Xi Shi
By Wang Wei (translation by myself)
Since beauty was cherished by the monarch,
How could Xi Shi remain unnoticeable for a long time?
She had ever been a gril washing the yarn in the early moring
Beside the brook in the county of Yue,
However she became the consort in the palace Wu just when the night fell.
Who valued her in those ignoble days?
Flowers came in when getting renowned.
No need in person to do either the cosmetic or the dressing.
The monarch’s spoiling endowed her with more charming,
And the monarch’s loving was gone beyond the gossip.
Those girlhood companions who ever washed the yarn
Now could not sit abreast with her in the crowned waggon.
Was it predetermined to be ineffective to imitate her beauty nuance,
When she waved the farewell to the neighbouring girls?
