About twenty days ago, I received two emails from abroad in tandem; both stated my email had been won the prize draw held in UK. The first email said I was eligible to claim the winning prize worth ￡500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand pounds sterling), the latter email told me the wining worth￡1,000,000. At first sight, I of cousre was alert on the deceptive email. Nowadays there are amounts of deceptive information full of the internet. Particularly those involoved in the case that tell you have hit certain level of prize draw. After you give the response to them, or visiting the website specified by them, there are some procedures you should follow. Wthout doubt, the final purpose is that you must remit up front some money to their designated account for the despatch charge or some withholding tax. If you have paid the money to them, the result is no response from them at all.
This was the first time I received the email from abroad claiming that I won the prize draw by luck. The emails said the draw was held by UK national lottery organization, drawing the prize winner from Email they hold. I don’t know how my email was obtained by them. Maybe sometime I ever registered in a foreign website and provided my email.
Those email said I should give them some information about my real name, address, phone nubmer etc., after receiving the information they would give me the money from the registered agent.
Of course, I know these must be racketing activity. I never imagine I will be so luck to obtain such an unexpected big wealth. However I was doubtful the honesty of the foreigner. If there exist the deceptive internet ransoms across abroad? In fact giving a response to the email may not incur any loss for me. Therefore about four or five days after receiving the email, I sent my personal real information to them. Both of them gave me the response, in particular one of the responses was very quick. It was just yesterday, I received a very formal document from one of the email. It stated the activity was under the very strict supervision of the national lottery organisation and they also provided me with the luck number, the verification number as well as the certificate number. They also stated I should use this money in a wise way, donating some to the charity, community, educational organisastion, of course including my personal business development. For claiming the money I should contact the courier designated who is responsible for transfering the fund to my account. Following the requirement I provided the information to the courier. How quickly they responded! The email from the courier said I should pay the dispatch and the insurance fee, and they also offered me three optioins. In particular they explained why they could not accept the reverse payment (ie charging the fee from the sender) due to the insurance policy in UK. The purpose is very clear now. They want to receive the transfering fees for which they can make money by deception.
Although the country is different, the means they have employed are the same as in our country.
