Yesterday, the earthquake has stricken the north areas of Szechwan province. The level of the magnitude was up to 7.8, which run to the highest level in our country similar to Tanshang big earthquake in 1976 which deprived of the lives of two hundred thousand of people in one night. This earthquake also came in yesterday afternoon unguardedly. Up to the minute, the death toll soared up to over ten thousand, with the deepening rescue, the number is surging upon our eyes and hearts.
My heart is also being sticken by the disaster. Last night I almost kept awaked to watch out the progress of the rescue working.However the work of rescue was inefficient. After earthquake, the almighty natural power still controlled the environment around those stricken areas. The draconian weather coupled with damaged traffic has stopped our rescue groups from armed forces entering the severely destroyed areas. Even the air force helicopters could not approach the epicenter of Wenquang county where the death toll and the wounded are still remained unknown. It is just approaching the nightfall today, one of the forces entered the Wen quan county by foot. It has been later more than one day after the calamity.
Thousands of people are waiting for rescue. I was in particular stricken by the scene in which those students were digged out from the relics. Those students who have died were laid down by the street one by one. The flower-like lives were withered only in one or two minutes. How heartrending the parents! Whenever I saw the pictures, I could not help my heart to tears.
The predominated nature always exerts its invincible power. The omnipotent earth mother gives us the nourishment, whereas she appears to devour our humanbeing now and then.
How should we do now? People who come from all walks should hold out your hands to help those people who are in dire need of help. For our countrymen, the effective way for you to give your help is by means of donation.
For those who have suffered from death, I express my mourning for them. For those who has survived the earthquake, I hope sincerely they will recover as soon as possible!
