Recently, the real state giant Wangke, only donating 2 million RMB to the disaster area Sichuan province, has come to the front of dispute. Thousands of people comment it is too penny-pinched.
Indeed, comparing with other famous Chinese enterprises, its donation is too little. Wangke, the Chinese realty developing giant, has earned too much profits from Chinese market during past couples of years.
The chair of the director Wangshi in Wangke claimed, donation can not be made to be a burden for the company. Does really its donation constitute a burden for Wangke? 2 million is in fact a so small figure for it. Even this figure is negligible when comparing against his annual salary. Wangshi, from his company incentive scheme of share option has received billions of wealth in terms of RMB. Doesn’t he think his salary engendered a cumbering for his company?
A business, when engaged in the society, should have its social and moral responsibilty, in particular when a national disaster happened. Wangke therefore has it inevasible accountability towards national community.
However, its behavior can only be judged against social and moral scale. Donating more or less, even nothing, will not be referred to court problem. Nonetheless, it has been said well, there is a scale in people’s heart, Wangke will get its repaid in the near future.
When inverting back, donation is a contentious topic against social and moral context. It was the case in the past donation had gone away from its original intention. In some place, donation for something became a forcible task needed to complete. No action has become ignominious. From the essence of implication of donation, it should be based on volunteer will as long as you have showed your true love heart.
In one word, donating less is much better than no action. Thousands of streams can be pooled together to become a river even a sea. Let’s give our best beatitude to those countrymen who have suffered the disaster.
