There is a cat couching at the corner of the door of my home almost every night. I can see it when I open the door every early morning. Why does the cat choose this corner as its lair? At first I thought a lot; at last I understood it was its clever choice. Because the weather is getting colder and colder now, and my home is at sixth floor where is upmost and is warmer than other places.
This cat lives in our staircases for over one year. It was adopted by the family living in the first floor. When the cat was a kitty, it was encased in a bamboo-made box all day long. The host placed a bowl in the box to feed it. We could hear its meow when we approached the case. It would feel delighted when I let it out. Slowly it grew old. Now the host has almost abandoned it and let it stroll in our staircase.
Generally saying the cat is miserable, for there is no rat available for it to hunt. It is always free and runs around our house. Sometimes it would run into the staircase from outside when we came back home and opened the public front door. Sometimes it would run out after it stayed in the staricase for hours.
I don’t know how it can find the food to fill its stomach. Sometime I could see there was a bowl in front of the door with a few scraps that was placed by some family.
Will the cat starve to death? It seems it is impossible. I still can see it stretchs its waist lazily when I open my door every morning.
