On Oct. 29, Thursday, last week, we paid a visit to Liangzi Lake. It was organized by HUST Branch of Hubei provincial CAPD, and invited by Liangzi Lake Branch of Hubei provincial CAPD, aimed to deepen the relationship between the branches. I as one of the members in the branch, was informed days early of the activity.

Early this morning about 8am, we gathered at optic valley gym of HUST, where is one of the outlets of the university. Several minutes later, after we all had come here, we drove to the destination.

About one hour late, we reached the Liangzi Lake where we were welcomed by the leaders from the town, the head of the branch, and other members. According to the arrangement, we would have a conversation at a lilltle island surrounded by the lake.

We members, together with theirs, about twenty, boarded to a middle sized yacht. With the plangent sound the yacht marched forward.

Liangzi Lake is famous for its aquaculture, which services the cities around it including Wuhan, Ezhou etc. The renowned dish Wuchang Fish was pitched into the poem of Mao Zedong.

With the yacht sailing further, we could see much more vast water area. The water was seen much clearer in the cool autumn. The route to the island seemed a little monotonous because along the way there was not any special view which could attract our attention apart from the vast water area.

After about twenty minutes route, we reached the island and entered a meeting room where a warm conversation was ignited by the head of the Liangzhi Lake branch, a woman who is over forty now but is looked younger. She greeted us with an impassioned speech, describing the cozy and fruitful autumn and the picturesque island. Then all the members introduced themselves one by one. Afterwards, we discussed current educational problems and other issues, such as how to improve and protect the ecologic environment around Liangzi Lake. The conversation lasted nearly two hours and ended up with a meaningful plan that we would invite them to our university after one or two months later.

A lunch banquet was held beside the lake where there are a number of interconnected restaurants. It was in the time of off-season, so we could not see the booming scene. We enjoyed delicious meals which mainly were fish-cooked. During the lunch the general secretary of the town appeared here and toasted to us.

After the lunch, we had a tour around the island. The most impressed was the crabs crowded in the water box seeing everywhere. Previously I thought the price must be lower than in our market; however the crab was priced higher than we thought. It was said the higher price was due to the fact you could buy the real crabs scoured from the Liangzi Lake. Some of us bought some, but I did not as I thought to cook crab is not convenient for me.

About 3pm, we finished the short tour and went back home.
