Hurdle Rate and Age

Age is a practical problem we should consider carefully when we are in middle age. The memory ablility will decline; and the speed of response will also work the same fashion when we should tackle a problem in the limited time.

I am exactly the example I have experienced several times. Take the exam as an example. I slowly found I could not finish the exam in the required time when I took exam two years ago. But this was not the case when I was in twenty or just thirty years more. The slow response speed made me have to give up the final examination that may be critical for me.

The second example for me  is the experience during the course of learning bamboo flute. The fingers can not be so limber like the youngsters who are interested in playing instrument. The evidence can be found by comparison with my son. Some playing skills can be surmounted by my son just by practicing in not so long time. However, several months or even one year more of practice over and over seems to be fruitless for me. The progress in some respects is just like the turtles moving forward so lowly or just like marking time.

I have expressed my opinion at the row of "saying something" on the blog: the hurdle rate is so high when you want to do something to be perfect. Of course, the above has not menthioned the age factor. Originally, to make something perfect is really difficult, however, when the age factor is included, the hurdle rate may appear to meet more difficult even if it remains the same.
